High and Low Notes

I've been listen to a bunch of music via Spotify at work to make the day go faster while designing email blasts, and Foster the People is a band that I've been particularly enjoying. Something about the beat or whatever makes me work better and faster. Who knows. But I thought I would share it on my blog, so enjoy.

Other than that, part 2 of Bag of Bones is tonight, which means we'll miss our How I Met Your Mother and *cough Gossip Girl cough*. Last night was excellent, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought i would for a made for TV movie. The cinematography was a bit strange at times, making it seem like it was a commercial for some medication with Pierce Brosnan running through a field, but overall it was good.

ALSO, as I have noticed I haven't added to to my people I love to hate list in a while, so here it goes:

Today's victim is: Manchester United and its fans

Now I've been meaning to add them for a long time, I just have never gotten around to it. Where do I begin. Well, I must first say that I'm not a huge fan of any of the EPL teams. I really like Liverpool and I enjoy watching Manchester City on TV, but wouldn't call myself a supporter. But the biggest thing is I root for however Manchester Utd is playing and hope they beat them. Why? Because they've won enough in the last few years thank you. Also, they have a team that is overconfident and way too cocky. If they tie or lose to anyone (Premier League or otherwise) the next day you'll see in the papers that Sir Alex Ferguson complained about the ref or Patrice Evra felt players were being racist towards him or Rio Ferdinand saying that the other team only won because they played dirty. Honestly, its because they're overrated. I look at their squad and see 2 or 3 genuine superstars and they scrape by with wins on most occasions. And its come back to haunt them with getting dumped out the of Champions League to the lads of FC Basle (not only did they knock out these idiots but they're Swiss! two thumbs up!) and were beaten in the League Cup to Crystal Palace.

But really I think the main reason I dislike them this much is there bandwagon fans. People from around the world love Utd. Why? Because they win so much. I guarantee if this team were in the bottom half of the table and were not major players in any competition, most of their fans would jump ship. YET, those very same fans will profess the love for the club and make fun of EVERYONE else who doesn't like the team. Its an absolute disgrace. So, to all of you who consider yourselves Red Devils, you've been listed.

Seriously?

Seriously, Michelle Bachmann can run for president, I sure as hell can:

Read this article, everyone should before they consider Bachmann anything other than the dumb, pathetic joke that she is:

I'm listing you on my People I Love to Hate List, and i don't even need to give an explanation after that mess.

PILTH: Vampires, Werewolves, Bad Actors, OH MY!

So, I'm returning with the weekly Monday rituation of PEOPLE I LOVE TO HATE and this week is sort of a cop out because I ranted a bit about her already, but this week I list: Kristen Stewart.

There were other worthy candidates, such as Drew Barrymore (of which the wife and I watched Going the Distance with Barrymore and Justin Long, *que gagging*) and some others, but I realized that I just couldn't go without actually putting her on the list. What happens in 10 years when I look back and say, what were some really bad actors that I hated? WHAT THEN?

I'd like to start off by saying I found the following image online when typing in "i hate kristen stewart" neat huh? Now, I'm not sure whether or not its because girls wish they were her so she is hated or people don't like how she is smug and annoying, but i couldn't care why: JUST AS LONG AS SHE IS HATED.

Here is the reasoning why (not that I need a reason per se): When I first heard about this Twilight series, I was behind the eight ball so to speak. I hadn't read the books (nor did I want to). I didn't even watch the first movie until probably a year after it had come out on DVD. So I only saw the crap surrounding the hype. Little girls going crazy for vampires and werewolves and Kristen Stewart in the middle of it all. Now, if people were going crazy for me, I not only would be super excited and happy, I would be humble. I'm an ACTOR in a MOVIE. I didn't save anyone's life nor did I invent some magical machine to solve all the world's problems. Sure, I may have worked hard to create a work of art, but I'm still an ACTOR. I serve no real purpose in the grand scheme of things. OK, now lets look at Stewart. She never smiles, never seems to be appreciative of the fans of this franchise, never seems to care about anything except her own fame. Lets get something straight: She isn't talented. At all. She acts like herself in movies. Plus, to top it all off, little girls (unless they are lesbians) are not going to see Twilight because of the chick. Its Pattinson and Lautner. Period. So, to recap, there is a non-talent hack acting like she is the biggest star on the planet who mistakenly believes that people are going to see these movies because of her, when in reality everyone knows she can't act but put up with her for more shirtless Taylor Lautner action. Its like when people love to get drunk and have fun but wake up with a hangover the next day. They loved the alcohol the night of, unfortunately wake up feeling like death, but understand that sometimes you just have live with the consequences of partying hard the night before. For tween girls, Stewart is the hangover to Lautner and Pattinson's booze. They sort of put up with it. That's right, I'm comparing Kristen Stewart to a hangover. Both make me want to throw up.

Now, don't get me wrong. There are a lot of smug actors out there: one of my favoritest even in Brad Pitt. But at least most of those smug bastards have talent; they have reason to be smug. They've won awards and single handledly brought home serious money for their projects.

Kristen Stewart should be elated and be super excited that a bunch of studio execs even let her be in this movie, not walk around like she's god's gift to Hollywood. End of story, you've been listed.

Long Time, No Post

Its been almost a month since I last posted on my blog, WHAT A SHAME!

Since I last posted, I have a new job, which I really enjoy and the wife is back from India. I've been writing a bit of a short-story/novel sort of thing. Hopefully I'll be able to post an excerpt from it on here soon.

Its strange, at my new job of Viral Marketing Coordinator I spend a lot of time on twitter and facebook, and I realized the other day that it seems other people have a full online rep, tons of followers, and blog/facebook/twitter all wrapped up. I think my role as a Viral Marketing Coordinator, I should at least make an effort to put everything together....

I thought that as I typed this out I would have more to say but I realize that I probably should just take it day by day and post as needed.

I just got at Spotify account as the online music company spread from Europe to the USA. Its pretty cool, but I'm not sure if I would ever pay for the service. I've only had it for about a week or so, so we'll see if that changes the more I use it going forward. First impressions say no.

Anyway, I'll leave it there for now, but I'll post again tomorrow.

For now I've added a new section to my blog. I've taken off the People I Love to Hate on my sidebar and added a page on top for this specific topic. As I keep up with it, you'll find pictures, with links back to the blog post in which I first mentioned the list victims. Hope you enjoy that.

Also, I wanted to change my header to mix it up. Background it different as well.

Till tomorrow!

It's Been A While...

Wow, it's been almost a month since I last wrote on my blog. Not sure really why I haven't written on it till now. I had plenty of time last week, given everything (psh) but now I'm writing on it again, SO THERE. Priyam went off to India to visit the in-laws so I'm here in ABQ by myself. It's been a little more than a week, and I'm bored out of my mind at this point. Wifey said to me today: You need a hobby. It's funny that she mentions it, because if I think about it, it's been a really long time since I had an honest-to-goodness hobby. I play video games, read comics, and watch movies, but none of that is really a hobby. I'll have to think about a hobby for myself this week. I've been reading Next by Michael Crichton and its probably going to be the first book I've finished in quite sometime. It's pretty good, but it's been pretty slow going, but it's starting to get good now.

This past week, because I was sooo bored (it's amazing how pathetic my life is without Priyam around....no seriously) that I started a LOST marathon, watching every episode from every season). I've been taking some breaks, reading and watching some other things, so I guess you can't really call it a marathon, but you get the idea. I REALLY miss that show. It's funny, because I'm just starting season 3, and seasons 1 and 2 are absolutely outstanding in all aspects (casting, script, plot) and it makes me happy and disappointed at the same time. Happy because of just how good this show was, and upset because of how bad the last season was. I mean, the show went downhill. I've said it a million times, and I'll say it again. When a show is THAT amazing for so many seasons, you have to really deliver with the final season, otherwise no one is going to be happy. Its almost like American Idol. If you belt out a huge performance in your audition and are mediocre thereafter but never live up to that audition, guaranteed you won't win. It's all about expectations.

Regardless, I will continue on my Lost marathon (probably even restart it once Priyam gets back, seasons one and two are that good) and continue watching the mayhem.

With that being said, let's return to:

This week's victim: Kate Austen from LOST (played by Evangeline Lilly)

Now, there are plenty of characters from this show that I can list, because frankly, it's pretty easy, but Kate was, by far, the worst. I'm pretty sure the producers told the writers "Listen, you have a lot of strong characters here, but you need to add a complicated love interest in to this show, because thats the only way we'll get the female audience." The PROBLEM with that is when you have such an amazing cast of well written and well cast main characters around her, SHE LOOKS EVEN WORSE. Now I'm not listing Evangeline Lilly because I haven't personally seen her act in anything else and I'm pretty convinced the producers threw her in and it's the writing of that character that's bad. I never saw the point to her character, end of story. Sorry Ms. Austen, you've been listed.
-----
Well, that's all for today, I'll write again tomorrow. Probably off to bed soon, I'm tired from doing nothing all day. Farewell.

The Pains of a Monday

Ever have those days where you just don't want to get up in the morning? I'm not talking about general "i dont want to go to work types" I'm talking, "I want to sleep the rest of this month, screw the world" types.

Yeah, I had one of those today. Woke up at 6 am to wake up the wife, then went back to sleep, woke up a 7 am to "take a shower" and by brain goes, "Who needs to shower". I never work well without showering first thing in the morning. It wakes me up, and gets me ready for the day. So whenever i say, who needs to shower, its never a good sign.

But, despite my body putting up a fight, I showered and shaved and was to work on time. Luckily I can leave a little early today since I worked all day in Santa Fe on Saturday. Naptime for me!

But, after a bit of a break, I formally welcome the return of:

This week's listed victim: Overconfident Youngsters

What exactly do I mean? I'm talking about twofold: Young kids, younger even than high school age, who think they are smarter, cooler, and know more about life than adults. I think because more parents don't smack their kids when they get out of line, they get this overconfident sense of self and think that they can do whatever they want without a problem. Honestly, I really want to punch kids in the face when they act like that.

The second is high school or college age kids who are trying to prove themselves and pretend to be smarter than they are. My boss' son is like that. He has some good ideas sure, sometimes he bosses me around like I'm some peasant slave and he is the kick of the castle. Then when I ask my ACTUAL boss about it, he kinda just shrugs it off like, "eh, I don't listen to him half the time, why do you?" That really pisses me off, because its not like I can do anything about it, it's the bosses son!

Feel free to comment if you love to hate that as well!

Eat It Buckeyes

Hello all, first, I would  like to apologize for my absense, I really have no excuse for it. Next, I would like to thank Ohio State University football program for screwing themselves over. As a Michigan Wolverine fan, the past few years have been really upsetting, from Rich Rod's hiring and firing, to the lack of amazing head coaching candidates, and always wondering if Big Blue will be able to regain the success they had while I was growing up. All the while Ohio State (our bitter rival) was laughing all the way to the bank, recruiting the top players, dominating the Big Ten, and going to BCS bowl games year after year. Their success was unmatched, and it made me very angry. Now, with Head Coach Jim Tressel lying to the NCAA, I finally can smile again. THATS WHAT YOU GET YOU EVIL SCHOOL. As an after thought, They'll be my People I Love to Hate this week.

Ohio State University

Anyway, life has been good, got paid today (after noticing New Mexico raised the state taxes, those assholes). Also, I wanted to post a heromachine entry I have made, I call him the Resurrector:

Hope you like it!

I Just Can't Help Myself

Another Beiber getting hit video. After taking a missed three pointer, rapper Common just runs over Justin Beiber. I might just have to go and buy a Common album now just for that, he's gone way up in my book.

Ann Hathaway Needs To Calm Down

Oscars 2011 presenter Kirk Douglas fights over his cane with Omar Sharif Jr. at the Academy Awards on Sunday night. So watched the Oscars last night, and ohhhh what a terrible hosting job. There were some nice moments, such as Kirk Douglas presenting Best Supporting Actress. However, Ann Hathaway was HORRIBLE. I mean, seriously she was really bad. James Franco look high on drugs during the whole thing, and Ann Hathaway probably should have had some drugs before the show, because she was so noticably nervous during the entire show, my wife mentioned, "What is she doing up there?"

No real suprises with the winners, and my wife was so unimpressed she went to bed half way through (ok ok, so maybe it had something to do with staying up all night watching the England-India match the night before). But I still think if it was any good, she might have actually tried to stay up.

Anyway, so just watching How I Met Your Mother and one of my wife's favorite shows Gossip Girl. Had some daal and a buffalo chicken quesadilla, and they were excellent.

As an aside, my wife's wonderful cooking is also available to follow on her new blog solely devoted to food, which you can see right here.

And now boys and girls, its time for
Victim of the week: New Mexico Drivers

I mean, I've lived in some pretty bad driving states. New Jersey blows. But nothing compares to New Mexico. I mean NOTHING. Cutting people off, turning into oncoming traffic, switching 4 lanes of traffic with no turn signal, going 65 MPH in a 30 MPH area, going through red lights. I think the basic road test in this state is if you have two hands and two feet they give you a drivers license. I mean, maybe most of these people are used to driving around in the desert where its nearly impossible to hit things, but MY GOD. Albuquerque is a city, YOU'RE NOT IN THE DESERT ANYMORE. LEARN TO DRIVE. My poor wife has a heart attack nearly everytime we get into our car, cus she's worried some dumbass driver is gonna hit us. Maybe instead of a Toyota, we should have purchased a tank instead. When we first came down here, I wasn't sure why so many people had some huge 4 door pick up trucks in such a flatlands type of area, but now i know why. They are afraid of getting massacred on the freeways. Sorry New Mexico, but before you hit me with your really bad drivers, you've been listed.

And to continue my "I Hate Justin Beiber" videos, here is a hilarious video of Justin Beiber getting hit by a water bottle:

Somali pirates strike again!

Just reading the news again this morning, more Americans killed by Somali pirates. My first reaction was: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Why does anyone go near Somalia. EVER. Its a country with plenty of violence and a lot of desperate dangerous gun-wielding guys ready to kill anyone to get what they want. Then, after all the pirate attacks from past months, its hard not to feel people going anywhere near there are just plain dumb. Its like those hikers that were walking near the border of Iran not to long ago. I just wanted to yell at the TV: HELLO, ITS IRAN YOU DUMBASSES!

ANYWAY, now that I've gotten that little rant out of the way, I realize that because I was so busy with work yesterday that I wasn't able to post on my wall, which was a bummer. However, I will today include my weekly segment:

This week's victim is none other than Food Network's Alton Brown

The host of Iron Chef America and some other cooking shows on Food Network, which my wife and I watch quite a bit (The Network, not his shows), I can't stand this guy. He thinks he is so smart and funny, and makes horrible jokes on Iron Chef America and quoting Socrates and famous people left and right, you can tell this guy has a huge ego. Is he really that smart? Who knows, but there is no way for me to get past his ridiculous on-camera personality as this know-it-all food snob who tries to lecture the audience about how amazing and smart he is. On doing some quick research I'm not the only one. People who love to hate him even have a facebook group. I suppose everyone has a facebook group hating them, but this makes me feel validated. Mr.Brown, for everything you do, and act like, you've been listed.
------------------
And with that, I've got to get back to work, but I'll leave you with Justin Beiber, another PILTH list victim getting shot and killed on tv show CSI.

Never Say Never? Psh

So, today, there are a few things I would like to rant on:

First, I was getting ready to go to work today and of course, it being Valentines Day, there were VDay commericals, but one that caught my eye was the commercial from Hooters: They were trying to say that taking your special someone to Hooters was a good Valentines Day gift. Huh? The ad was on ESPN, so its a mostly male audience, so I'm not sure what they were trying to prove. The old saying, Men don't go to Hooters for their wings holds very true. Men go to Hooters to stare at the women while they eat. So how would taking your girlfriend/date/wife to Hooters seem like a remotely good idea? Even if it was being advertised on a show such as the View, which has mostly a female audience, do the marketing people for Hooters REALLY think that women are gonna go: Ya know, that seems like a good idea. Psh. Maybe they're hoping for a big lesbian VDay crowd push.... (PS- I never really looked at it, but the Owl in the Hooters logo has a really dirty smile on its face)

Next, very quicky, clearly Walmart REALLY doesn't give a crap about the customer service. I mean, ITS REALLY BAD. It makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Plus, Priyam and I usually go to say Walmart then a relatively new supermarket chain called Sunflower Market, which is so bright and the employees go out of their way to help you, so it makes the comparison even worse.
------
Now, its time for the People I Love to Hate's weekly addition: JUSTIN BEIBER

When I first heard of some kid internet sensation who was starting to get pretty popular, I wrote it off to a 15 minutes of fame type of deal. Unfortunately for me and the rest of the world, Usher saw the Youtube videos, and immediately brought the kid into his home and signed him to a deal. Now, Usher grew from a child star of sorts, so he knows all about getting the dumb teen girl crowd. Its where the money is. Period. I don't have a problem with that, because there are plenty of teen girl crush type characters out there. But the PROBLEM IS that Beiber is becoming some sort of global sensation. His music is weak at best, repetitive, and frankly just plan pathetic. However, people are calling him the best pop artist since sliced bread. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? He's horrible. Not to mention he has some stupid movie about his rise to fame coming out called Never Say Never, so he's going on all these talk shows and other nonsense, and people treat him like this amazing person. JUST STOP! Hey Beiber, Never Say Never? You've been listed.
(I would put up a picture of him, but I don't want to hurl everytime I look at my blog)
------

As an aside, my wife and I started watching Bollywood movie My Name is Khan, with SRK and Kajol, but it was too late so we couldnt get too far into it, so more on that tomorrow or Wednesday when we finish it off.

Crazy, but thats how it goes....

Wow, I haven't posted since Sunday! Well, I suppose I'll have to make a big post to make up for the last two days then! First, the Super Bowl was great. Good food, good game (way to go Packers), and (best of all) my wife actually enjoyed american football. She's Indian of course, so american football isnt exactly something that she puts much effort into liking. However, I explained the rules and she kinda enjoyed it I think, so major steps there!

Yesterday I didn't post because I went to Santa Fe for the first time since we've been here, for work, and it was ok. I'm more excited to go with Sachinky in the next two weeks or so for more a holiday type trip. Going there for work certainly isn't relaxing and enjoying the sites.

Meanwhile, whenever I have time, before or after work, lunchtime etc I try to watch some Dexter: Season 4. I started watching the show a while ago, but with my computer out of comission for months, I couldn't really download the latest seasons, so I've been playing catch up. I have to give John Lithgow props for his role as the Trinity Killer, he's absolutely awesome in the part. I think thats one thing I like about the show: the casting. Each role is pretty well developed and each actor really fits their character. My only problem I guess is the family aspect to the show. Sometimes the storyline seems a bit...lacking. I figure they need some new ideas for the story, and it makes Dexter more frazzled which leads to more drama, but adding the kids just makes the show more annoying for me. Hopefully season 5 will improve in that regard...

Meanwhile, I'm behind on my PEOPLE I LOVE TO HATE segment, so without further ado:
-----
This week's PERSON I LOVE TO HATE is: Immigration Reform advocates

Sure its not one particular person, but my wife came here the hard, long way and it took forever. But guess what? She is a legal immigrant with a green card and everything. But you know what? Based on these jokers, my wife could have flown into Mexico City and we could have paid someone to sneak her across the border and she would have been here a long time ago! I could go on and on about these people, but I'd rather not, because blogspot would shut me down probably for improper posting.

-----
As a side note, I've been a relatively loyal reader of a professional comic book artist named Jeff, who writes daily on his blog, http://www.heromachine.com/, about everything from stupid superhero outfits in the 60s to who his readers think the best non-superhero powered superhero is (Batman clearly). However, on the site, he's also created an online superhero application where you can create your very own superhero. He has contests such as "Create your very own henchman character" and the winner gets some small prize like he'll draw a sketch of whatever you want etc. Well, recently, I entered one of the contests for the first time, and although I didn't win the Heromachine Henchman Character Contest, I actually got an honorable mention! Click on the link in the previous sentence to go directly the blog post with my pic, its the entry submitted by Mr.Chris (thats me!)

PILTHL: The Begining

Well, feeling better I suppose, still some minor symptoms of sickness, but mostly over it by now... In my first post, I mentioned I would have a People I Love to Hate List, and usually I'll be posting on Mondays, but because I was massively sick, I posted on Monday and plum forgot, and yesterday I was busy at work and still not feeling great so thats what happened there. But without further ado, I commense with my first 3 people I love to hate (mondays I'll be posting only one).
--------------
People I Love to Hate Victims of the Week:

Calista Flockhart

I've seen a few different shows with this seriously flat-chested actress and I have to say that every show she is in, she is absolutely the worst character and actor on the screen. My wife loves Ally McBeal and Brothers and Sisters, both shows where Flockhart plays prominent roles. Neither show she is any good. Ally McBeal is literally named after her character, and all she is in it is a whiny, complaining, selfish egotistical moron who becomes a lawyer just cus her boyfriend becomes one. Seriously? But, to be fair, I figured, maybe its just the writing, maybe her character is supposed to be like that, and she's acting pretty well. I THOUGHT WRONG. After seeing her in Brothers and Sisters, she is THE. EXACT. SAME. WAY. Her character is different, the writers weren't on Ally McBeal, and frankly if you listen to her lines, you notice that they really aren't selfish or ridiculous, but somehow Mrs. Han Solo really makes the characters she plays more lothsome. How she is able to get jobs in Hollywood is beyond me. Oh wait, thats right, she barely gets jobs, I forgot. Consider yourself listed Ms.McBeal.

Next up is the famous Manning Family (Peyton and Eli) of American football fame.

Why do I have such a distaste for football's number 1 family? Because they're stupid, overhyped daddy's boys who can't take a hit and blame everyone else when they fail. Take Peyton Manning: after every playoff loss (and after their most recent to the New York Jets, they're starting to pile up) he blames everyone but himself. Listen to his press conferences, and you can see what I mean. If he throws an interception he'll blame to offensive line and his recievers. If the team loses, he blames the defense. But, honestly, at least he has some serious talent, there is no denying that whatsoever. The guy is one of the best QBs I've ever seen. THEN THERE IS ELI MANNING. Medoicre at Ole Miss, drafting high at the NFL Draft, but it was mostly because people felt he had similar mechanics to his brother. (which i suppose he does). But here's what gets me: He doesnt want to play for the Chargers, so he gets his dad (former quarterback Archie Manning, to somehow get him moved to the Giants.) How many other players do you know of that have that luxury? Pretty sure not many. How about you suck it up and play for the team? Plus, if you look at the guy, you can tell he really is an idiot. Nowhere near as talented as his brother, and everyone knows it but isn't willing to say it. I am. You're both listed.

Last but not least on my People I Love to Hate List is Sarah Palin

This one should be pretty obvious, so I'm not going to go into a lot of detail. Its the Tea Party, its her dumb expressions that low IQed individuals think are quaint, its the whole idea of her being able to be vice president, let alone president. Most of you know what I'm talking about, so I won't go much further. I'm very worried about where the Tea Party goes from here, but I do know that they're gaining momentum, which is a very scary proposition for the US. I've already told Priyam, if a tea party leader ever becomes prez or vice-prez, we are moving out of the country. Period.

------------

Thats all for my first three People I Love to Hate entries, off to work, freezing weather (its like 9 degrees F) here, but gotta work, what can I do.

The Startopher

So after some random comments from my wife, and someone asking me if I blog during a job interview, I've decided to start a new blog, with my thoughts of society, sports, movies, and a little bit of everything else. I hope you all enjoy and I look forward to writing daily, hopefully.

In addition to a daily post, every monday I will add to my "People I Love to Hate" list on the side, with a mention in my blog post about why I love to hate said individual. So look forward to that as well. I need to get rid of some pent up frustration against people that I love to hate, whether it be famous faces or just random people that bother me. I can't tell them to their faces, so how about make a list, right?

You: "Why now? Why try a third time at doing a blog?"
Me: "I dunno, stop asking"
With that said, I hope you all enjoy and thank you for reading.
