Do you want to stay at.....HOJO?

So, today is my first day of work at my new position, which marketing wise calls it self HoJo, or Howard Johnson as their Regional Marketing Manager for the Singhs, a pair of Punjabi business men who own 4 hotels, a sub shop, and a chain of Santa Fe liquior stores. From what I can gather from the few hours I've been here so far, they're kinda stingy with marketing money, or much money for that matter, when it comes to the hotel side, so I've already figured out the idea is to plug along as long as I can getting business for the hotel, and hopefully they'll give me marketing reign over their entire operation, where they are more willing to spend money then before.

The hotel industry is doing relatively poorly for a while now, so I suppose to makes sense about little marketing budget for a hotel. And it is relatively interesting that they have hired a marketing guy, considering their marketing investment thus far, but maybe they're realizing the error of their ways. Whatever the reason, its a decent salary and decent hours, so there isnt too much to complain about.

Today has been pretty straight forward, meeting the front desk associates, Jai and Vangey, and the support staff, learning how their operation works, etc. Pretty straight forward stuff. The only thing holding me back is this blasted flu-symptom crap that keeps coming back. Its pissing me off, cus I have a bunch of energy, then it slowly drains out, then I have a bunch more energy, which drains out again, its REALLY not cool.

Hopefully it'll go away soon, cus I don't want to be sick my whole first week. That is all for now

Oh, What a Night

So the last few days I've been feeling funky but last night it hit its peak when I started having hot and cold flashes and I took a hot shower and my head was still freezing cold. FEVER ALERT. So, as I've been taught to do, I put on a few layers in an attempt to sweat it out. Well after an odd sleep schedule, where I went to bed at about 9:30 and woke up every two hours all night until about 3 am, then had odd dreams about being a viking and other strange things, I finally awoke about 10 minutes ago feeling pretty good, thirsty as a dog, and wondering where I was.

Did I sleep well? Honestly, who knows.

But, I'm awake now, and we'll see how it goes today. First up: Watching the Notts County v. Machester City FA Cup match while the wife continues to sleep. I've no idea when she went to sleep but I know it was late.

Best Practices

So its Saturday, and hopefully Priyam and I can do something fun today, I miss Boba Tea, so I think we'll get some drinks in the morning, go to Verizon to handle a minor billing issue, and Priyam will probably get her haircut. Who knows what else we'll do, probably go see a movie or something as well.

Meanwhile, while reading my news and blogs this morning, I can upon this ridiculous article. Now, I love football (soccer for all you yanks), and I try to watch as many live matches as I can. Its tough in the states to watch, because of the lack of matches put on tv. Priyam got me Fox Soccer Channel for christmas though, so I've been enjoying that quite a bit. But, back to topic, I learned about Hamburg based club St.Pauli not too long ago, who in the Bundisliga is considered sort of a dark horse, but I saw this article, and it sort of takes things to a whole new level:
----
St Pauli strippers get sent off
German side St Pauli have always done things differently but even the The Pirates of the League have to draw the line somewhere and the Bundesliga club have asked the owners of one of their executive boxes to stop strippers performing during matches.

The problem arose after executives from Susi's Show Bar, situated on Hamburg's main red-light drag, the Reeperbahn, forked out around £60,000 for a private box at the Millerntor-Stadion and promptly installed a pole and mirror.
A toy train that delivers hotdogs and personal beer pump just isn't enough for some people. Off the Ball can't help but wonder what Andy Gray and Richard Keys would say about the situation.
----

Now that is a soccer match, my favorite about that is the idea of the front office executives allowing the strippers in their box prior to and after the match, just not during. Classic.

Its Past My Bedtime...

...and I'm still wide awake. Flipping through Friday's late night TV programming is making me wonder if I should cancel my DISH Network service all together. You know when the best thing on TV is the random infomercials about the best ab workout known to man, you should just turn the damn thing off.

Ever get that feeling like your exhausted but you know there is no hope you'll fall asleep if you got up the energy to close your eyes? Yeah, that's where I am right now...And its reallllly annoying...

(side note, yes, for those of you were paying attention, my bedtime is usually about 10 pm, what I'm old, sue me)

The Startopher

So after some random comments from my wife, and someone asking me if I blog during a job interview, I've decided to start a new blog, with my thoughts of society, sports, movies, and a little bit of everything else. I hope you all enjoy and I look forward to writing daily, hopefully.

In addition to a daily post, every monday I will add to my "People I Love to Hate" list on the side, with a mention in my blog post about why I love to hate said individual. So look forward to that as well. I need to get rid of some pent up frustration against people that I love to hate, whether it be famous faces or just random people that bother me. I can't tell them to their faces, so how about make a list, right?

You: "Why now? Why try a third time at doing a blog?"
Me: "I dunno, stop asking"
With that said, I hope you all enjoy and thank you for reading.
